Argenta Valleys
With the Museo delle Valli, the Museo della Bonifica and the Civic Museum
From the ancient Argenta and Marmorta's Valleys, only Campotto's Valleys still exist, which today are used only during the rivers overflows. The remaining of the ancient Argenta's Valleys is divided in three main sections:
- Campotto and Bassarone's Oasis, that shows a series of freshwater valleys connected to each other and linked to the main rivers of the area thaks to canals;
- Valle Santa (Saint Valley), characterized by rushes and water lillies, it's the ideal place for the stop and nesting of many species of birds;
- Bosco di Traversante (Traversante's Wood), one of the last strips of hygrophilous wood of Po Valley.
Campotto's Valley and Traversante's Wood are accessible just with a guide and can be visited by walking or by bike. You can freely visit Vallesanta instead: nearby you can access a watching small tower from where you have a wonderful view of the valleys from the high.
Argenta's Valleys, together the Valleys' Museum, a naturalistic museum that describes the history, the culture, the tradition, the nature and the formation of this territory; the Argenta's Public Museum, inside San Domenico's Church, where you can admire paintings, sculptures and gravestones found in the area; and the Reclamation's Museum, sited inside a still operating water-scooping factory, which tells the millenial history of the relation between man and water. These attractions form the Argenta's Ecomuseum, Po Delta Park integral part.
